Are donations made to Habitat for Humanity International passed on to local affiliates?

Yes, but only if a gift is designated to a specific local Habitat affiliate. When a donation is made through Habitat for Humanity International and designated to a local affiliate, Habitat International may assess an administrative fee before forwarding the remaining funds to that affiliate.

If you would like 100% of your donation to support your local Habitat affiliate, we encourage you to make your gift directly to the affiliate. Direct donations ensure that every dollar stays in the local community and supports local affordable homeownership programs.


Can I designate my contribution for a specific project or program?

Yes. Donors may choose to direct their gifts to a specific Habitat for Humanity program, project, or area of greatest need. Designated gifts allow you to support the aspect of our mission that matters most to you, whether that's affordable homeownership, home repairs, neighborhood revitalization, volunteer programs, or another initiative.

Is my contribution to Habitat tax deductible? Does my donation count as an Arizona Tax Credit?

Yes. Habitat for Humanity of Northern Arizona is a qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and donations are generally tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. We recommend consulting your tax advisor regarding your specific tax situation.

Habitat for Humanity of Northern Arizona also qualifies for the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit. Eligible Arizona taxpayers who donate to Habitat may claim a dollar-for-dollar credit on their Arizona state income taxes, up to the maximum amount allowed by state law. Tax credit limits and eligibility requirements may change, so please consult a tax professional or visit the Arizona Department of Revenue for current information.


Will I receive a receipt for my donation?

Yes. Habitat for Humanity of Northern Arizona provides a receipt for all monetary donations. Receipts for online gifts are typically sent by email shortly after your donation is processed, while receipts for mailed contributions are sent once the donation has been received and recorded.
